Carbos in Pasta Vary

One type of pasta has the same number of grams of carbohydrate per ounce as another - right? Well, not necessarily. According to an analysis published in Diabetes Self-Management, a 2-ounce serving of pasta can have as few as 35g or as many as 50g for the unflavored varieties. Most have around 40g. Here are some of the brands from the list:

2 oz of:   # g carbohydrate
DiGiorno angel hair     31
RP's Pasta egg linguine, dill linguine, spinach linguine     33
Papadini high-protein rotini     35
Eden soba     37
Alberto's egg noodles; DeBoles whole wheat spaghetti     40
Al Dente fiesta fettucine; Venecia angel hair, fettucine, linguine, spaghetti, tri-color bow ties, rotini     41

Thai Kitchen rice noodles, stir fry rice noodles     46

Flavored pasta generally has more grams of carbohydrate. Be sure to check the labels and serving size when you're planning your meals.
