Millions of people join formal weight loss programs to help them in their efforts to shed pounds. Last week we looked at some questions you should ask when you are investigating weight loss programs about their methods and strategies. This week, we'll offer some further questions you should ask about their success:
- What percentage of people completes the program?
- What is the average weight loss among people who finish the program?
- What percentage of people has problems or side effects? What are they?
- Are there fees or costs for additional items, such as dietary supplements?
Many programs don't gather this information formally, so you may not get answers. But it's still important to ask.
Remember, quick weight loss methods don't usually provide lasting results. Programs that rely on diet aids like drinks, prepackaged foods, or diet pills don't work in the long run. No matter how much weight you have to lose, modest goals and a slow but steady course will increase your chances of both losing the weight and keeping it off.
