Eating sensibly and reducing fat in your diet doesn't mean you have to abandon eating out. You can make any dining experience both tasty and good for you with the following tips:
- Ask the restaurant if they will accommodate special requests such as:
- Leave all butter, gravy and sauces off a dish
- Serve salad dressing on the side
- Serve margarine instead of butter
- Serve fat-free milk instead of whole milk or cream
- Trim visible fat from poultry or meat
- Use less oil when cooking
- Select foods which are:
- Steamed
- Garden-fresh
- Broiled
- Baked
- Roasted
- Poached
- Lightly sautéed or stir-fried
