Blood pressure is affected by your emotional state. Being overly tired or under stress can increase your blood pressure. Getting enough sleep is critical. That means 7 to 8 hours each night for most people.

If you can't sleep after going to bed, get up and read or take a warm bath. Strenuous exercise or drinking coffee just before going to bed can make it more difficult to fall asleep.

When you feel tension building up, take a few seconds to slow yourself down. There are numerous stress-reducing exercises you can easily do.
