Does drinking tea alter my risk of heart disease?
|
Coffee and tea are often lumped together as if they were interchangeable, but they are not. Both are drunk in large amounts, and both contain caffeine, but there the similarity ends. Tea contains antioxidants called flavonoids, and a Dutch study found that men who drink a lot of tea are at reduced risk of heart disease. The same study found no beneficial effect of drinking coffee. It's also possible that tea may protect against cancer.
