Create Your Own Incentive Program
|
We all know that we should get more exercise. But many of us need an extra push to actually do it. The American Heart Association suggests creating your own incentive program:
- Reward yourself for every half hour spent exercising and every pound lost with points toward an indulgence such as a massage or an evening at the movies.
- If you are motivated by money, drop a dime in a jar for every minute you spend exercising. At the end of the month, use the money for something frivolous.
- If your blood pressure is driving your exercise program, keep a
chart of your BP readings and reward yourself when you succeed in reducing it - or keeping it in your target range for a week at a time.
